The Other Film Festival is committed to providing access for all people. So that we can provide a great film-going experience, a range of accessible services and facilities will be available. Please advise us of any access requirements at the time of booking and every effort will be made to ensure you can attend with equity and ease.
Access Services I Venue Access I Staying in Melbourne
Audio Description: will be provided to enhance access for peple who are blind or vision impaired. Through the use of a small radio receiver, audience members can listen to a description of the visual aspects of the film during appropriate breaks in the dialogue. All films will be Audio Described. There are LCD screens available for use at your individual seat. Availability is limited so please book ahead.
Captioning: All films screened will be captioned or subtitled.
Assistive Listening: The Age Theatre is equipped with an audio loop that and can be used to amplify or enhance sound quality. This system can be accessed from all seats in the theatre through the t-switch on a hearing aid.
Auslan Interpreters: To ensure access for the Deaf Community, Auslan interpreters will be available for all spoken events including speeches, introductions, forums, workshops and Q&A sessions.
Wheelchair Access: All public areas of Melbourne Museum are accessible for people who require wheelchair access, including toilets. There are also ramps and escalators in the Museum. As accessible seating locations in the Age Theatre are limited, it is advisable to book at earliest possible time.
Guide dogs are welcome in all areas of Melbourne Museum and Charcoal Lane, the Other Festival Club
Companion Card will be accepted at all sessions and forums
Audio translation of Foreign Films will be available at selected screenings.

Museum Open Hours: 10am to 5pm every day. For entry to the Other Film Festival after hours, we will have staff stationed near the lifts at the main entry, and the lifts of the car park will also operate.
Lifts
The Melbourne Museum has two levels of parking, and three levels of exhibits: Lower, Ground and Upper. The Age Theatre is located on the Lower Level. Lifts are located in the Carpark on both levels, near the Museum Shop (Lower and Ground levels) and near the balcony café (Upper level).
Parking
Underground commercial parking is available. $10 per day for Museum visitors. Enter from Rathdowne or Nicholson Streets. Designated accessible parking is on Level P2.
2 hour, free street parking can sometimes be found in surrounding streets, especially on the weekend.
Public Transport, Taxis and Drop Off
Tram 86 or 96 from City, get off at Museum Stop, corner Nicholson Street & Gertrude Street.
City Circle Tram to corner Victoria Street and Nicholson Street.
City Loop Train to Parliament Station, then a 15 minute walk at medium pace (approximately 800 metres) along Nicholson Street.
Bus Routes 250, 251, 253, 402 to Rathdowne Street.
There are standard drop off zones on both Nicholson and Rathdowne Streets, but for the period of the Other Film Festival, we have arranged closer drop off from the Museum Plaza area. Please inform taxi and bus drivers that they can get you right to the door!
Toilets
All public areas of the Museum are equipped with easy access toilets. Some of the doors are quite heavy to push open. Ask the Front Of House staff (near the Age Theatre) for assistance if required. back to top
The City of Melbourne website has good information on accessible accomodation, eating out and general access to the city. The Mobility Centre at Federation Square has equipment hire, great info and a range of services for visitors. They have a freecall number 1800 735 266, TTY 03 9650 9316.
